Timmy Riordan

Timmy’s songs are raw and ironic, playful and heartfelt, or absurd and insightful; often all at the same time. Besides writing songs, Timmy is an advocate for the art of vanquishing resistance. In 2009 he inaugurated The Song Bomb, an annual, month long event in February devoted to the art songwriting.  During the month he works to write 28 songs and asks 28 other songwriters to help pace him along by each writing a song themselves.   Not content to push people to write songs just in February, he organizes monthly Fearless Songwriting Weeks (www.thefearlesssongwriter.com), encouraging people to ‘vanquish resistance and write songs’ for seven days in a row. While seven songs is the ideal for a Fearless Songwriting week, he encourages people to use these weeks and ‘Fearless’ community as a catalyst simply sit down and write. “Writing just one songs is a victory;” he is often heard to say. “Writing one song is another time you’ve beaten Resistance.”  In August of 2010, his Fearless Songwriting workshop was taught  at the Rocky Mountain Song School and Girlyman’s Ty Greenstein has said  of these weeks; “So far nothing has worked better for me in killing Resistance.” Timmy's next album "New York's Ignoring Me" will be released in late spring of 2011 and can be pre-ordered here
